The Project:

  • The Butcher Solana Apartment Complex is proposed on the 6 acre Butcher Hill Canyon -an old quarry and diatomaceous earth mining site.

  • If approved, the Project will consist of:

  • 248 units, 500+ vehicles, 500+ residents

  • 3 large residential buildings each with 2 - level subterranean parking

  • 6-level ‘open vent’ vehicle parking structure

  • Social gathering area on top of 6-level parking structure

  • The Project will be much larger than the Hillside Village shopping center

  • The three buildings will have 20% more floor area than the 12 story California Bank & Trust Building on Hawthorne Blvd.

Effects of The Project:

  • Requires zoning change

  • Site likely contains Group 1 & Group 4 carcinogens

  • Generates significant noise during & after construction

  • Traffic increase from 500+ cars

  • Safety & noise issues from 5,000+ truckloads of earth removal & replacement
